Dina Parise Racing~ Keeping the Memory in Memorial Day

It seems that in this day and age we are a society driven by instant gratification and plagued with short term memory. What ‘sells’ on the news and in print are stories about the impending nuptials of stars (reality or actual celebrity) or the death of a celebrity (many times due to their own addictions), not stories regarding how many soldiers were lost that day or even that week. Sports stars are being labeled as heroes merely for putting a ball into a net or carrying it over a goal line. It is Sensationalism VS. Realism and reality is certainly the victim in this scenario.

The fact remains that more than 7,000 American service members (Male and Female) have been killed since the attacks of September 11, 2001, and well over 50,000 have been injured. Many of those injuries so severe, that if they were sustained in a prior conflict the soldier would not have survived. Our nation has been entered in many conflicts. The loss and injury numbers are staggering. As years go by our country and its citizens seems to hold less regard for those who sacrifice so much defending it and protecting the very freedom enjoyed by all.

Back to Reality: The reality of it all is that what has become ‘important’ is really not reality at all. The shift in what has ‘meaning ‘has come down to where the money is rather than where the morality is. It has become more important to plug a non-talent reality star’s wedding than Medal of Honor recipient (former) Army Sgt. Kyle J. White , especially on Memorial DayWeekend? Has Memorial Day become more about the sales in the stores, the Barbeques and the beer? Does anyone actually know the real meaning of Memorial Day? Who takes the time to go to a National or Veteran Cemetery to pay respects or place a flag? Not many. This needs to change.

The Dina Parise Racing team has had the honor on a few occasions to participate in ‘Fleet Week’ at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York. It is a breathtaking place to be no matter the time of year. Fleet Week happens to fall during Memorial Day Weekend .The team has met people from all over the world. One woman from Sweden really hit the nail on the head with what she said. She asked “What is this Holiday? I see Red, White and Blue everywhere. There are sales in all the stores, but I do not understand what the Holiday is. Can you explain it to me?” Our DPR team obliged. ‘ Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered.’ But are they? The unfortunate reality to that is it seems the younger generation has the same question. We need to bring back the importance of this and all the Veteran holidays because the honor has been earned.

Now, of courseno one is saying do not have a ‘Welcome Summer’ Barbeque, or do not go shopping for that perfect pair of sandals. The point is, to remember why you can do all of these things you are doing with such ease. Take a moment to reflect. If you see a Veteran, thank them. Take you children to a National Cemetery to place a flag or have them volunteer in a VA home. Giving back to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom is not too much to ask.

Always remember Freedom is not Free…… Hate the war, not the warrior…. Fly your flag proudly!

On another note….. the DPR team will be seeing you all out there soon! More to come shortly!

DPR Featured in Dragzine !

Although the Dina Parise Racing team seemed to have made it’s mark with the famed Military ‘themed’ 63 and 53 Corvette Pro Mods … The departure of Dina’s 63 Corvette is causing a pleasant ‘exciting’ stir! Feel the excitement in this Dragzine article regarding the build of Dina’s Cadillac Pro Mod due to debut this season!

http://www.dragzine.com/news/dina-parise-excited-about-debut-of-new-cadillac-cts-v-pro-mod/

Can you CTS-V me now?

Growing up on Long Island, New York in an Italian family always had its advantages. There was the fact that a ‘rite of passage’ as a young woman in an Italian family was learning how to ‘perfect’ the family recipe for Gravy. Yes, Gravy. In Dina Parise’s  (of Dina Parise Racing) house  growing up (and still today) if it’s red and has Meatballs, Pork Neck bones and Braciole … it’s Gravy! Veering from food, let us not forget about the ‘built in’ Body Guards of sorts; Dina’s three brothers. Dina being the youngest in an Italian family and the only girl led to many a scuffle and shall we say, dateless night. “Italian ‘Princess’ was a statement often used but misunderstood by many in my case.” Stated Dina Parise with a smile. “I was not the type to be a princess in a standoffish kind of way; I was merely a victim of overbearing brotherly love and protection. Once a ‘date’ found out who my brothers were, he usually had ‘other plans that did not include me!” She laughs.

Italians are a very distinct bunch. Proud of their heritage and sometimes it seems more proud of the food they create. One thing stands out about Italians (especially) in New York; many times you can pick them (Italians) out by the car they drive. For those of you not from the New York area this may seem strange, but it’s true! This takes us to the nitty gritty of this story.

Dina Parise Racing is proud to announce the build of a new Cadillac CTS-V by Matheis Race Cars Inc to debut in the 2014 season!  “We are very excited about building a new Pro Mod for DPR.” Stated  Rob Matheis. “We have been fans of DPR for a long time and can hardly wait to see Dina behind the wheel and winning races with a MRC built CTS-V!”

“We are excited to be working with Rob and the MRC team!” Stated Dina. “This is a sharp looking car and it will be built by MRC! What more could we ask for?”

So stay tuned for future updates regarding the new CTS-V Pro Mod and the upcoming 2014 season!

From our DPR family to yours we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year!

DPR and the 3 R’s! Racing, Writing and the Radio!

They say “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”, right? So, if that saying has any truth to it you can certainly understand why the Dina Parise Racing team keeps so busy on and off the track! With and even without their Pro Mod Corvettes in tow the Parise’s have been keeping busy.
“This season has been a whirlwind so far!” Stated Dina Parise. “We have had to deal with blown motors and a crash, yes but that’s the stuff that makes you dig in and want more! Crazy as that sounds! Well, no one ever said we were normal!” She laughs.
DPR has just returned from Maple Grove Raceway. It was the Latin American Sport Compacts and the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association presented by (DPR Marketing Partner) USA Auto Supply. For this weekend the team fielded only Andrew’s 53 Corvette. Andrew qualified solidly in the number 10 spot with a 6.204 ET… hitting the chutes early. He took the win light over Steve Kramer in the first round. Lady Luck did not seem to ride with Andrew in the second round though. Andrew drifted toward the center line and took a loss to Gary Courtier who went on to the final. Gary then lost to Tyler Hard. Congratulations to Tyler and the team on their win! DPR would like to thank the crew Dave Jordan, Rocco Micciolo, as well as Jon Salemi of Resolution Racing Services for a job well done!
The sport of Drag Racing allows for a great fan experience. The ‘pit pass’ experience for fans is the most amazing part. It also allows DPR as a team to entertain ‘honorable’ guests. This past weekend was no exception. The team hosted an extraordinary gentleman (Veteran) and his son. They run the Keystone Iron Warriors in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. The team also had the honor of hosting a Vietnam Veteran with many stories to tell. DPR thanks them both for their service to our country.
As many are aware, DPR has a long standing relationship with the Veteran community. After Dina’s ‘unfortunate incident’ in June, it was decided to turn a negative to a positive. And, if you have been keeping up you also know that DPR then began the ‘Stop WRITE Here’ Program shortly after. Fans are encouraged to sign the unpainted nose of Dina’s 63 Corvette and in turn leave a Donation for Indy Honor Flight http://www.indyhonorflight.org/ (Part of the Honor Flight Network). To date, DPR and its fans have assisted two Veterans in making the journey from Indy to DC! The project will continue until the nose is painted.
To add to the hustle bustle of this DPR team Dina has taken on yet another role! Radio co-host!  Dina is the new co-host of the Sam Auxier Jr. Radio Show, beginning Monday September 16th. The show  airs LIVE every Monday night at 7PM EST   http://www.thesamauxierjrshow.com/ .“ My wife is a smart cookie.” Stated Andrew Parise with a smile. “I am always razzing her about her yapping, so I guess she decided to one up me and capitalize on it. It’s certainly her way of doing things.” EyeRoll, followed by a chuckle.

DPR Gearing up for Maple Grove Super Chevy Show

Honor: high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank. As many of you already know, this Dina Parise Racing team has always honored Veterans and Members of the Armed Forces. The tradition of honoring Veterans is what keeps DPR grounded as a team. This tradition continues as the team heads to the Super Chevy Show at Maple Grove Raceway. Only this time it will not be just a ‘team effort’. The fans will have an opportunity to not only honor Veterans, but to become a part of DPR history.

Glad to be back: After missing the 2012 Super Chevy Show at Maple Grove Raceway, DPR is glad to be headed back to this event! “Maple Grove Super Chevy holds a lot of significance for this team.” Stated Dina Parise “This was my introduction to Drag Racing and the beginning of our team as a whole. We have many fans and friends here. In 2010 I lost the final here to Jimmy Barker. The list goes on.”

Determination: This DPR team has had a bit of a rough 2013 season thus far. But, Dina and Andrew are determined and they are both fierce competitors. ” It’s been a wild ride so far.” Stated Dina Parise “Only problem is I’m looking for a refund on this ride ticket!” She laughs.”Getting back in the groove of things has been a bumpy ride. ” Stated Andrew Parise “But, we will get past it. Well, if my wife and I don’t kill each other first that is!” He laughs.

Who nose? :The DPR team will be at Maple Grove (July 19th-21st) with their sharp looking 1963 and 1953 Pro Mod Corvettes. Well, one may look a bit different this weekend than it has in the past. Dina’s ’63 Corvette is being fitted with a new nose . Of course , it is not painted with the Stars and the flag drape just yet. But, this team will always find a way to turn a negative into a positive! Here’s where the fan participation comes in! “I wanted to give the fans an opportunity to feel they are part of the team, and be able to ‘give back’ at the same time.” Stated Dina.” I think this will be as fun for the fans as it will for us!”

Grab a Sharpie: DPR is proud to announce the ‘Stop Write Here’ Project! Fans will have the opportunity to sign their name (and take a photo of it) on the unpainted nose of the ’63 Corvette and help support a an amazing organization all at the same time! As fans arrive in the pit to sign the car and take a photo, DPR will only ask that they make a donation to the Honor Flight Network. Honor Flight Network (http://www.honorflight.org/) is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. . Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. Honor Flight has many regional hubs to accommodate Veterans.

Ladies First: Being that DPR is (as you know) a female owned team Dina’s wish was for the funds  be allocated to  female Veterans. “As a driver (and a person), these ladies inspire me.” Stated Dina “I think this is a great way to give back to them for their service. Our way of saying Thank you and you are not forgotten.”

Attention in the Pits: DPR wants fans as well as fellow racers to take part  in this amazing project to benefit the Honor Flight Network! If  you are a fan walking  through the pits or a racer between rounds, be sure to stop by the DPR pit and participate!

Dina Parise Racing~Did not Capitalize at Capitol

There was somethin’ strange in the neighborhood….Well, the Ghostbusters did not get a call, but the Dina Parise Racing team sure could have used ’em! Chasing ghosts and gremlins, you would have thought it was Halloween! The  Dina Parise Racing team attended the Northeast Outlaw Pro mod Association event at the ‘New’ Capitol Raceway. Although it was not Halloween, this outing seemed to be more tricks than treats! “Between the sweltering heat and the fact that my 63 Corvette was just not willing to cooperate, it was a frustrating weekend.” , Stated Dina Parise. ” This car is fast, and we know that. So once she settles in… Look out!” Said with a smile.

Although the DPR team had a DNQ for this past weekend’s race, it was not a total loss. The team was inundated with fans back at the trailer after each pass. ” It really makes you feel good that you have fan support regardless of the outcome.” Stated Dina Parise. “Of course we want a stellar number on every pass, and we want to win. Some days that’s not in the cards, but it’s nice to know that the fans are ok with that. But I will not be making a habit of it, let me make that clear! ” She laughs.

As stated earlier, this NEOPMA event was held at the ‘New’ Capitol Raceway in Crofton , Maryland. This track does have a very rich history in Drag Racing . From Don Prudhomme to Joe Amato to Bunny Burkett this track has entertained many with the best of the best. Then for a period of time,  Capitol Raceway seemed to have fallen into a bit of disrepair. It seemed it’s reputation among racers and fans had become muddied and things looked bleak. Then in 2012 along came Raceway Promotions, a company formed by John Crane and B.J. Herrell to revitalize the facility. “Frankly, we were not sure what to expect when we arrived here on Friday.” Stated Andrew Parise. ” But I have to say, Jimmy (Bradshaw) and the crew really put the racers first and kept the track conditions under control given the unbearable heat, and especially since we were only running Dina’s car; Happy wife, Happy life!” He laughs.

Next stop for the DPR team is the NEOPMA race at Atco Raceway. The ghosts have been exorcised and all is well in the Parise camp, and the team is ready to resume racing.

DPR would like to Thank : Butch Branzelle, Nick Montana & Chris Montana (Pro Chassis Design), Jody Lupton and Dave Jordan for their assistance on and off the track .

Memorial Day… Remembering those who have served

It has been a staple of the Dina Parise Racing team to honor the Members of our Armed forces no matter what day of the year it is. From a standstill to over 240  MPH these two Chevy Corvette Pro Mods are a true dedication to our Nation’s Military and what it stands for. In one word; Freedom.

“I feel we would be remiss if we did not remind everyone to recognize the true meaning of Memorial Day. We can not forget the sacrifices made by so many.” States Dina Parise. “We painted these cars with our Armed forces members in mind. As a tribute to their service and sacrifice.  Not an event goes by without a Veteran or an active duty member striking up a conversation with us regarding the paint on our cars. Usually, they thank us! Actually, it’s our ‘Thank you’ to ALL of them! To us, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day is EVERY Day! “She says.

For the second year in a row, this DPR team will be participating in the Memorial Day (weekend May 25-26)) , ‘Salute To Heroes’ festivities at the Intrepid Sea , Air and Space Museum. There seems to be so much emphasis on the fact that ‘Fleet Week’ has been cancelled that everyone is again forgetting the meaning of the ‘day’. Surely the event will be altered from years past, but the core of the event and it’s meaning is still there!

So head on down to pier 86 (the Intrepid) in NYC! Did you know that all the activities on the pier are FREE! Visit  http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/MemorialDayWeekend2013.aspx for more information!

Please remember before you head to the Intrepid or to wherever you are headed,  be sure to do a few things. Fly your American Flag. Stop at a Military Cemetery or Monument and leave a small American Flag or Wreath in honor of the fallen. It is the least we as citizens can do before we head out to enjoy the day with our families.

Never Forget. Freedom is Not Free.
